Mountain TV' is an installation
that is based on an Austrian broadcast called 'Wetter-Panorama'.
Every morning revolving cameras on mountain tops reveal live
panoramic views to inform the weather. Additional informations,
as the date, the time and certain measurements are keyed into
the picture.
The installation 'Mountain TV' is a monitor on the top of a
pedestal showing a prepared recording of the panoramic broadcast
while revolving at the pace of the TV cameras. In the prepared
video, the day is left out so that there is only the month as
a reference. On the other hand during the exhibition the clock
shows the precise time. It is not clear if the panoramas are
live or recorded. When the cameras and the monitor are spinning
in opposite directions, the recorded scenary seems to stay in
it´s position when referred to the exhibition room. Since
the folk music of the broadcast fits the spectator´s movement
around the pedestal well it was not changed. |
